This study is spearheaded by Dr. Lynda Frassetto, MD and Dr. Umesh Masharani, MD at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), in conjunction partly with UCSF’s PCOS clinic, spearheaded by Dr. Heather Huddleston, MD. We are recruiting women that have been previously diagnosed with PCOS (must have less than 6 periods per year and have elevated androgen levels to qualify), and who are willing to complete an 8-month diet study looking at the effects of an ADA diet versus the Paleo diet. Each participant will be randomized into one of two groups, either eating the Paleo diet for 8 months or first eating the ADA diet for 4 months and then transitioning to eating the Paleo diet for the remaining 4 months.

You can learn all of the details about our study here: UCSF PCOS Diet Study

Participants will need to come to UCSF’s Parnassus campus throughout the study for evaluation and tests/labs, which will all be free visits with paid parking.

With your help and participation, we can try to better understand the benefits of diet on managing PCOS symptoms and what diet is the best for women to follow who have been diagnosed with PCOS. Not only will millions of women potentially benefit from this study, but you may as well! See our “Success Stories” for firsthand accounts from women who have recently completed our study!
